Project ended in May 1998
The Jupiter Project
was set up in the beginning of 1996 to provide in the course of two years EURESCOM
shareholders adequate answers to three major questions:
How should Multimedia Services be designed so that they can be accessed and used easily
?
How should the network parameters of interconnected local and broadband wide area
networks be set up so that the overall quality of Multimedia Services is accepted by the
end-user ?
What has to be done to enable different implementations of DAVIC compliant systems to
exchange high quality video streams (MPEG2) and multimedia applications (MHEG5) controlled
by a standardized user protocol ?
