| What
is this Project about? Gradually, e-health has become an increasingly important and prominent field within the healthcare sector. As e-health services penetrate individual healthcare segments, from healthcare administration to patient mobility, they present new opportunities for telcos that are important to identify and analyse. As e-health is gaining increasing momentum telcos have an opportunity to strengthen their strategic position as prominent stakeholders in e-health’s value-chain and facilitating for further innovation and development of telcos e-health related technologies and services. What are the main objectives of this Project? This study aims to increase understanding
of e-health, its main related segments or sub-fields, its current and
emerging technologies, legislative status, standardisation and
interoperability issues of concern as well as to understand its
value-chain process and identify different business models expressing
potential opportunities for telcos within this relatively new “industry
segment”. The study specifically intends to provide an overview of potential opportunities for telcos in the e-health industry, addressing relevant technology and service opportunities, deployment and development, and thereby provide meaningful input for further business decisions making and collaboration concerning the relevant e-health spectrum.
