P1106 E-commerce impacts on service and network operations and management

D3 Framework (e2-OSS) for integrating e-commerce technology with Service and Network Management
Part 1 e2OSS Framework Overview and Report
Issue date: January 2003
Confidentiality: For full publication
Format: 1 Volume (70 pages)
Abstract:

This document reports the main issues that have been identified when e-commerce capabilities need to be integrated with Telecommunications Service and Network Operations.

It provides an overview of the integration framework –e2OSS- for current industry activities and describes the gaps that need to be practically addressed by implementers and systems planners in the development and deployment of e-commerce solutions for telecom.

The main focus is on Business-to-Business e-commerce of the type that is encountered in telecom wholesale supply chains. These are becoming more common as regulation requires Telcos to unbundle the constituent parts of their services, and the development of novel services needs the skills and resources from multiple players in the Information Communications and Technology industries.

Two other Parts provide detailed Guidelines for the Framework that addresses how these issues may be resolved. This is based upon the results of the paper and practical case studies carried out by the project P1106.
